How to check whether an NTN or CNIC is on the ATL

By CheckOne by FormOne · Updated 21 Oct 2026

1. FBR's own services

Use FBR’s IRIS portal for income-tax verification, select the appropriate income-tax or sales-tax verification service, or download the published lists. Choose the correct list, enter the identifier requested and complete any verification FBR requires. Record the list and date with the result.

2. This free checker

Type one NTN or CNIC. We look it up in the latest income-tax and sales-tax ATL files we have stored, and show the date of each file, a fingerprint (sha256) of the file, and the withholding rate per common section. You can share a link to the result for 7 days.

3. Checking a whole vendor list every week

Status can change between reports. If you pay dozens or hundreds of vendors, CheckOne checks the whole list every week and tells you on Monday which vendors moved, with a dated record for each check.

Tips for accurate results

  • Type identifiers as text. Excel can turn a CNIC into 3.52E+12, which loses digits.
  • An NTN has 7 characters (like 1234567 or A123456) plus an optional check digit after a dash.
  • This checker accepts NTN or CNIC. Ask the supplier for one of those identifiers rather than entering an STRN.
  • We never decide a match by name; names can belong to different taxpayers.

If a check fails or looks out of date

Check the identifier format first. A network error, unavailable file or paused checker is not a non-ATL result. Compare the publication dates for the two lists separately. For a time-sensitive payment, use FBR’s official verification service and discuss a discrepancy with your advisor rather than assuming a later filing is already reflected.

Prepare a vendor list

Keep one vendor per row in Excel or CSV, with a name and an NTN or CNIC stored as text. Preserve leading zeros. In the paid workspace, confirm the column mapping and preview additions, changes and missing identifiers before committing. Names alone never decide a match. Free checks remain one identifier at a time.
